unit unknown

Lens shows no error code on screen for this message; E-UNIT-UNKNOWN is this documentation's name for it. Quote it when you contact the Lens team.

What happened

Numbers that Lens parsed from a Cadence report show an explicit unit unknown marker instead of a unit.

Likely cause

A Cadence report states no time unit. The unit is a property of the cell library, which Lens never sees.

The project's Timing unit for Cadence reports setting is still unset, which is the default. While it is unset, Lens shows the marker rather than guess a unit.

PrimeTime reports are not affected: they are always in nanoseconds.

Fix

In Settings, set Timing unit for Cadence reports to ns or ps, to match your cell library.

The setting is per project. It is your explicit statement of the unit: Lens does not detect it.

If that does not work

The unit is stamped on a run when the run is made, and Lens never rewrites a saved run's unit afterwards. So a run analysed before you set the unit keeps its marker: run the scenario again (Run All Scenarios, or the ▶ beside the scenario) and the new run carries the unit you set. If a fresh run still shows the marker, check that you set the unit on the Cadence card the run root belongs to, since each Tempus or Innovus card carries its own timing unit, and that the project open is the one you changed, because the setting is per project.

If none of this helps, contact the Lens team through the channel you were given with your access to Lens, quote E-UNIT-UNKNOWN, and include what the screen said.
